Welcome to Munich!

We have great pleasure in announcing the long-awaited 16th Medical Biodefense Conference scheduled to be held in Munich, Germany, from 28 to 31 October 2018. We cordially invite you to join this unique international event, which will be organized as always by the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology, with the Bundeswehr Medical Academy as its worthy venue. Like in the previous years, leading scientists will attend the conference to share their knowledge first hand – a key asset that has strongly contributed to the excellent reputation of the meeting. Global interest in this high-profile conference has been steadily growing, and in 2016 alone, the conference attracted as many as 540 participants from 53 countries!

The Medical Biodefense Conference stands out from other international biodefense meetings because of its well-honed focus on the medical aspects of biodefense. It has become a venue for a well-informed audience with a keen interest in latest research findings and products in the areas of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases caused by highly dangerous infectious agents.

The 2018 scientific program will feature agent‐related topics such as "Vector‐borne Diseases", "Biological Toxins“ or "Antivirals, Antibiotics & Vaccines“, but will also offer sessions of cross‐sectional interest like “Bio-Reconnaissance” or “Modern Diagnostics and Imaging”. Moreover, it will address the latest issues, including the risks and opportunities associated with the new CRISPR/Cas9 technology, and it will provide a recap of the 2017 unusual outbreak of plague in Madagascar.

As you can see, there are plenty of good reasons to attend the Medical Biodefense Conference 2018. So do not miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to establish valuable contacts with civilian and military researchers from all over the world. Expand your horizons and come to Munich – a sought-after destination in many ways: We look forward to seeing you!
